Chapter 146

"He is my big boss too!" Vivian Bennett explained urgently.

Sophia Miller narrowed her eyes. "Have you ever seen a boss casually enter an employee's home?"

Vivian insisted weakly. "Maybe he was here to inspect my work?"

Sophia snorted. "Why would he only inspect your home then?"

"..."

"Given our friendship, is it so hard to admit you're involved with Liam Sullivan?" Sophia hooked an arm around her neck.

Vivian nearly crumbled. "I really haven't slept with him."

Sophia smiled suggestively. "But it's going to happen soon."

Based on her years of experience judging people, Sophia knew Vivian would be devoured by Liam sooner or later.

The way Liam looked at Vivian earlier clearly showed intense possessiveness.

"..." Vivian was speechless.

Sophia suddenly looked annoyed. "It's all my fault for coming at the wrong time."

If she had arrived later, her best friend's romantic encounter might have succeeded.

Vivian glared at her. "Do you really want to see me get eaten by Liam Sullivan that badly?"

She began to question whose side Sophia was really on.

Sophia stated matter-of-factly. "If it were any ordinary man, I would have kicked him out already."

Vivian looked confused. "What about Liam Sullivan?"

Sophia answered without hesitation. "I absolutely want him to swallow you whole."

"You!" Vivian was incredulous.

Sophia argued logically. "Come on, he's Liam Sullivan. If you're with him, you'll become a wealthy socialite..."

Vivian cut her off. "Even you believe in Cinderella fairy tales?"

She thought someone as clear-headed as Sophia wouldn't dream like that.

She never expected her best friend to be so conventional.

Sophia analyzed calmly. "First, you're no Cinderella. Second, you won't lose out by being with Liam Sullivan. Third, since you have to marry someone eventually, why not him?"

Vivian shot back. "Then why don't you marry Oliver Winston?"

Liam's friend Oliver Winston had been pursuing Sophia for quite some time.

But Sophia completely ignored him.

Oliver's family background was no worse than Liam's.

"I'm different from you. I'm a commitment-phobe. Not just one Oliver Winston, I wouldn't marry ten of him!" Sophia turned away.

She walked straight into the room.

Vivian followed behind her. "If you won't marry, then I won't either."

Actually, she thought being single like her best friend was quite nice.

If she couldn't find the right person, staying single wasn't bad.

Of course, her idea of the right person was someone with compatible conditions and shared interests.

Definitely not someone like Liam Sullivan.

He was too perfect, too dazzling, making him seem unreal.

She always felt his pursuit of her was like a game he could walk away from anytime.

Vivian told herself she must never develop feelings for such a man.

Otherwise, she would be the one getting hurt in the end.

As she was thinking, she suddenly heard Sophia exclaim. "Wow!"

"What's wrong?" Vivian hurried over.

Sophia pointed at the table full of dishes. "Vivian, when did your cooking skills become this good? You really prioritize romance over friendship! When we're together, I never see you make so many dishes for me..."

Sophia complained incessantly.

It took Vivian a moment to realize her best friend misunderstood.

She thought Vivian cooked this entire meal for Liam Sullivan.
