Chapter 20

Liam Sullivan’s gaze darkened as it locked onto her.

“You’d rather be my mistress?”

Vivian Bennett’s cheeks flushed with warmth.

She quickly shook her head.

“That’s not what I meant.”

Before she could finish, the man suddenly leaned in closer.

His sharply defined, handsome face abruptly filled her vision.

Without warning, his warm lips covered hers.

“Mmm…”

Vivian’s pupils contracted sharply.

She froze completely.

Liam Sullivan was kissing her?

His intense masculine presence overwhelmed her senses.

Her breath caught.

Her mind went blank.

The kiss was both domineering and lingering.

He only pulled back slowly when she was nearly breathless.

Vivian gasped for air, her chest rising and falling rapidly.

“You don’t even know how to breathe properly during a kiss.”

A mocking curve touched Liam’s lips.

“You’re not qualified to be my mistress yet.”

She steadied her breathing, a slight frown forming between her brows.

When had she ever said she wanted to be his mistress?

She had merely been objectively analyzing the situation.

The probability of becoming his mistress seemed higher than becoming Mrs. Sullivan.

She never agreed to be his mistress.

Vivian shot him an annoyed look.

“Mr. Sullivan, what exactly is the purpose of your late-night visit?”

It couldn’t possibly be just to test her suitability as a mistress.

Liam’s gaze remained calm yet authoritative.

“Report to headquarters tomorrow. I need a secretary.”

Vivian’s heart skipped a beat.

The CEO himself came to personally offer her a secretary position?

Being transferred to headquarters was already an exceptional honor.

Being promoted directly to the CEO’s secretary was like skipping several levels at once.

She cautiously pressed further.

“What responsibilities does the secretary position entail?”

Liam’s expression was cool and detached.

“What a secretary normally does.”

Vivian bit her lip, deciding to ask directly.

“Does it require sleeping with you?”

Some secretaries did have to fulfill their boss’s special needs.

She needed to confirm exactly what kind of secretary he wanted.

A dark glint flashed in Liam’s eyes.

“Are you looking forward to sleeping with me?”

Vivian immediately shook her head.

“No!”

The man’s expression instantly darkened.

The air grew heavy and still.

An oppressive atmosphere pressed down on her.

Vivian gathered her courage and spoke.

“I may be single, but I’m not a virgin anymore.”

Liam’s gaze turned icy.

“So?”

She forced a smile.

“So I don’t meet your standards for a partner.”

She heard Liam Sullivan had a cleanliness obsession.

He only touched pure women.

She lost her virginity in a luxury car that night.

She was no longer pure.

A cold light flashed in Liam’s eyes.

“Who told you being a secretary requires sleeping with me?”

Vivian was stunned.

Had she misunderstood?

“But you must be competent.” Liam looked down at her with a scrutinizing gaze.

“I don’t need a vase.”

Vivian’s cheeks burned instantly.
