Chapter 229

"I don't know anything," he blurted out in panic.

Vivian Bennett looked at him, confused.

She hadn't even started asking questions yet.

She had only mentioned the words "brother-in-law."

But Li Jian was already terrified out of his wits.

She keenly sensed something was wrong.

But she couldn't press him further.

"Vivian, I just remembered something urgent. I have to go," Li Jian hastily made an excuse and fled.

It was as if mentioning her brother-in-law, Jason Harper, was some kind of taboo.

The cloud of suspicion in Vivian's heart grew thicker.

Over the next few days, she met with several other former colleagues from the branch office.

Regardless of gender, everyone's reaction was exactly the same.

It was as if they had all agreed on a unified story in advance.

Any topic related to her brother-in-law, Jason Harper, was completely avoided.

Vivian was utterly perplexed.

What earth-shattering thing had her brother-in-law Jason Harper done?

Why was everyone in the branch office's PR department so tight-lipped about him?

This was highly unusual.

The weekend arrived in the blink of an eye.

That evening, when Vivian went out to take out the trash, she noticed the neighboring apartment had finished renovations and seemed to have new occupants.

By the time she returned, the neighbor's door was already tightly shut.

Vivian took out her keys to open her door, but was startled by a figure in her living room.

Liam Sullivan sat elegantly on the sofa, his long legs crossed, looking completely at home.

Furious, she demanded, "Liam, how did you get into my apartment?"

"The door was unlocked, so I came in," the man replied calmly, his eyes cool and detached.

Vivian froze. The door was unlocked?

She distinctly remembered closing the door when she left.

Looking at Liam's composed expression, he didn't seem to be lying.

Had she really forgotten to lock the door?

Seeing him sitting there in casual wear, as if this were his own home, she almost thought she had entered the wrong apartment.

Vivian frowned. "Even if I didn't lock the door, you can't just come in without permission, can you?"

Several days had passed without them seeing each other. Liam had been busy handling official business.

Vivian had also been focused on investigating her brother-in-law's affair.

The distance between them had returned to what it was at the very beginning.

Liam stared at the cold woman and commanded in a deep voice, "Come here."

Vivian remained rooted to the spot.

"If you don't want the neighbors to see me, close the door," Liam's cool voice held an undeniable threat.

Vivian sighed and reluctantly closed the door.

The moment she turned around, Liam pinned her against the door.

His cool lips suddenly covered hers, a stormy kiss instantly consuming her.

Vivian's heart trembled. She reached out to push him away.

Liam wrapped his arms around her domineeringly, his kiss lingering and passionate.

Vivian gradually softened from her stiff state, melting into a pool of spring water.

Liam continued to kiss her fiercely and relentlessly, only stopping when he was fully satisfied.

Looking at her flushed cheeks and slightly swollen lips, he whispered hoarsely, "Haven't seen you for a few days, and you've forgotten how to kiss?"

Blushing with embarrassment and anger, Vivian pushed him away. "Who... who says I've forgotten?"

Liam chuckled lowly. "Then kiss me."

Vivian's face instantly turned as red as a ripe tomato.

She bit her lip and scolded, "Shameless!"

The corner of Liam's mouth lifted. "If a kiss is shameless, then what was it when you used your hand to help me last time?"
