Chapter 253
Vivian Bennett looked at her cousin's icy and resolute expression.
She couldn't help but sigh deeply.
She quickly grasped Grace Harper's hand.
Her tone was firm. "Cousin Grace, if Jason Harper ever dares to bully you again, tell me immediately."
"I will never let them get away with it!"
Grace's eyes reddened.
She squeezed Vivian's hand tightly.
Her fingertips trembled slightly.
Just then, the doorbell suddenly rang.
Vivian stood up to answer the door.
Liam Sullivan's tall figure appeared outside.
He held a large bouquet of vibrant red roses.
His gaze was deep as he looked at her.
"These are for you." He offered her the flowers.
Vivian accepted the bouquet.
But she blocked the doorway, not letting him enter.
"It's not convenient tonight," she said softly.
Liam's eyes darkened. "What's wrong?"
"My cousin is here. There's some family matter," Vivian explained awkwardly, glancing toward the living room.
Liam followed her gaze.
He saw Grace sitting on the sofa with swollen, red eyes.
Her face was pale.
He frowned deeply. "What happened?"
"Just some family issues," Vivian shook her head lightly.
She did not want to elaborate.
She gently closed the door.
Liam was left standing outside.
His expression instantly turned gloomy.
He immediately took out his phone.
He dialed a number.
"Find out what happened at Vivian Bennett's cousin's house."
In the living room, Grace looked at Vivian with confusion.
"Was that... your boss?"
Vivian's eyes flickered.
She nodded gently.
"How did he..." Grace trailed off, hesitant.
"I left something at the company. He was just dropping it off on his way," Vivian explained instinctively.
Grace looked at her silently.
She clearly did not quite believe this explanation.
But her heart was too full of the pain from her husband's betrayal.
She had no energy to think too much about it.
Vivian changed the subject. "Cousin Grace, please sit for a while. I'll make dinner."
"Will you stay and eat with me tonight?"
Grace nodded weakly.
She looked dazed.
Vivian turned and walked into the kitchen.
She began preparing dinner.
Some time later, dinner was ready.
Vivian went to the living room.
She found Grace had already fallen asleep on the sofa.
She looked at her cousin's exhausted sleeping face.
Her heart ached.
During this period, her cousin had been physically and mentally exhausted because of Jason's affair.
Vivian quietly fetched a thin blanket from the bedroom.
She carefully covered Grace with it.
She did not wake her cousin.
She went to the kitchen alone and ate a simple meal.
Then she returned to her room to rest.
It was still early.
Vivian was not sleepy at all.
She leaned against the headboard.
She picked up her phone and browsed casually.
Suddenly, a new message popped up.
It was from Liam Sullivan.
"The woman your cousin's husband cheated with is your former superior?"
Vivian was stunned.
She quickly replied with a string of question marks.
She added, "How do you know that?"
Liam's reply came quickly. "I just found out."
Vivian's mind went blank for a moment.
Liam's efficiency was indeed astonishing.
She had been worried about not finding the specific identity of the other woman.
Since he found out, it must be correct.
Her former superior... Could it be Lily Evans from the PR department of the branch company?
Vivian suddenly realized.
No wonder her colleagues had been evasive and dared not speak clearly when she asked before.
It was Lily Evans.
Vivian knew from her time at the branch company that Lily was related to Daniel Lopez, the branch company's general manager.
Because of this connection, Lily had always acted arrogantly in the branch company.
But how could she have taken a liking to Jason Harper?
Lily was never short of wealthy and powerful men around her.
How did Jason Harper catch her eye?
