Chapter 282
Vivian Bennett raised an eyebrow at Grace Harper.
"Why would you feel reassured if Liam Sullivan took me away? He's also a man. Can you guarantee he isn't lustful?"
Grace Harper's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Are you serious? A man with Liam Sullivan's looks and status? Countless women would throw themselves at him and still not get a chance! Besides, he's famously distant from women. His private life is as clean as a blank sheet of paper! If he actually took a liking to you, it would be a miracle from heaven!"
Vivian felt a buzzing in her ears.
Her cousin crossed her arms, smiling like a sly fox.
"Vivian, be honest. Did you really stay at that hotel alone yesterday?"
Vivian stood frozen in place.
Grace grew impatient and gave her a little push.
Vivian snapped back to reality and spoke numbly.
"Cousin, I think I lost my phone. I haven't been able to find it since this morning."
Grace stomped her foot in frustration.
"What good is asking me? I didn't take your phone!"
Vivian used the excuse of searching for her phone to hurriedly leave her cousin's house.
The moment she stepped outside, her confused expression vanished.
Dealing with her cousin was easy.
The difficult part was that she genuinely couldn't remember where she had lost her phone.
Inside a public phone booth by the road, she dialed her own number.
The receiver emitted a cold, automated message indicating the phone was powered off.
Her phone was indeed lost.
Perhaps it was for the best.
This way, she wouldn't have to agonize over whether to send that man a thank-you message after turning it on.
Thinking of Liam Sullivan, Vivian let out a soft sigh.
The tenderness of their intimacy last night had left her heart in disarray.
Even now, his scent still lingered on her.
Faint, almost imperceptible.
She thought it had long faded away, only to realize it had been clinging to her all along.
Vivian shook her head and decided to go buy a new phone.
She carefully selected one at the mall and emerged to find the sky completely dark.
It was already 8:30 PM when she returned to her residential complex.
Glancing up unintentionally, she suddenly froze.
A conspicuous limousine was parked by the roadside.
A driver stood quietly beside the car, seemingly waiting for someone.
Upon seeing Vivian, he immediately stepped forward with a warm smile.
"Good evening, Miss Bennett!"
Vivian recognized him as Liam Sullivan's driver.
"Hello," she replied hesitantly. "Are you waiting for me? Is something the matter?"
The middle-aged man smiled kindly.
"Just call me Old Xu. The young master asked me to deliver something to you."
He retrieved several gift boxes from the car and handed them to Vivian.
Vivian raised an eyebrow.
"What is this?"
Old Xu maintained his polite smile.
"I'm not entirely sure. Ah, and there's one more thing to return to you."
He pulled a phone from his pocket.
"Your phone. The young master said you left it at his place."
