Chapter 406

Several men sat around the dining table, arguing intensely over documents in their hands.

Their debate continued even as the food was served.

Vivian Bennett whispered to Liam Sullivan that she was going to the restroom, then rose from her seat.

In the hallway outside the restroom, she ran directly into Albert Sullivan.

He looked much better than before.

Seeing Vivian, his brow furrowed slightly. "You're dining here too?"

Vivian smiled and nodded. As she moved to pass by, he suddenly grabbed her wrist.

Albert stared intently at the crystal-clear jade pendant around her neck, his expression terrifying.

Vivian cried out in fear. "Mr. Sullivan, please let go!"

Sylvia Sullivan rushed out from their private dining room at the sound. She grew frantic and angry at the sight. "Albert, what madness has taken you?"

Albert looked at his wife, then at the frightened Vivian. His tone softened abruptly. "Don't be afraid, Vivian. I just wanted to look at this jade... Could you take it off for me to see?"

Sylvia massaged her temples with a sigh. "All the medical exams prove you never had amnesia. Why obsess over this?"

Seeing Albert's disappointed expression, and recalling his repeated interest in the pendant, Vivian gently removed the necklace. "Since Mr. Sullivan wishes to see it, here."

As the pendant was placed in Albert's hand, he jolted violently.

An icy sensation spread through his entire body, freezing him in place.

He studied the intricate patterns on the jade carefully, muttering to himself. "A piece like this... I think I had one too..."

Sylvia snatched the pendant back, both angry and distressed. "This is a keepsake from Vivian's late mother. How could you possibly have one? Stop talking nonsense!"

She returned the pendant to Vivian, her face full of apology. "He's been saying these strange things lately. I'm truly afraid he's developing dementia..."

Liam Sullivan grew concerned when Vivian didn't return. He pushed open the door and stepped out.

His brow tightened at the sight of the three people in the hallway.

Vivian watched the man approach. Dressed in a tailored suit, his posture erect, her heartbeat quickened involuntarily. "Liam?"

Liam's gaze settled on her anxious face.

Sylvia hurried to smooth things over. "Are you dining here too, Liam?"

Liam gave her a brief glance before turning to Albert. "How are you feeling, Uncle? Better?"

Sylvia sighed. "Every hospital says he never lost his memory, but he refuses to believe it..."

Liam's deep eyes rested on Albert, his tone meaningful. "Uncle, some memories aren't worth clinging to."

Sylvia was surprised by Liam's sudden concern. She quickly pulled her husband away.

Liam pressed his thin lips together. He grabbed Vivian's wrist firmly and led her back to their private dining room.
