Chapter 456
Vivian Bennett felt a tightness in her chest as she watched his indifferent expression.
She forced a bitter smile. "You agreed so easily because you don't actually mean it, do you? It's just a hypothetical after all. Hypotheticals don't require any real commitment. The woman who could truly make you humble yourself to keep a promise probably doesn't even exist in this world."
Liam Sullivan remained silent, his deep gaze fixed on her face.
He neither confirmed nor denied her words.
Unfathomable emotions swirled in those dark eyes, elusive as mist and wind.
Vivian grew uncomfortable under his intense stare.
The air thickened with suffocating tension.
She averted her eyes and hastily picked up the documents on the table. "It's time. The car from the conference organizers should be here."
Liam released his hold on her waist and slowly adjusted his cuffs.
He strode toward the door with effortless grace.
Vivian stared blankly at his retreating figure. "Where are you going?"
He glanced back with a raised brow, a teasing smirk playing on his lips. "I'm accompanying you to the meeting."
Vivian's expression immediately darkened.
She had finally found a moment alone. Was he really going to deprive her of even these few hours of freedom?
Her chest constricted, making it difficult to breathe.
"What identity will you use to accompany me? The conference organizers didn't invite you. Your sudden appearance would be highly inappropriate. If this is about monitoring me, it's completely unnecessary. You're holding my passport. I have nowhere to run."
Anger flushed her eyes red as she glared at his arrogantly smiling face.
Liam shrugged dismissively. "Unless you plan to immigrate illegally, forget about leaving Country K. This is essentially my territory. The immigration office has already been notified. Without my permission, you can't even set foot in the airport."
Vivian clenched her fists, nails digging deep into her palms.
He had truly restricted her freedom.
"What exactly do you want?"
"Simple." Liam stepped closer, lifting her chin with his fingertip. "Preventing my woman from straying. You attracted a prince with just one dance. How could I possibly feel at ease? To avoid being cuckolded, I naturally have to keep a close watch."
His tone turned icy when he mentioned the word "prince."
Vivian laughed in exasperation. "Liam Sullivan, since when do you have so much free time? You came all the way abroad just to do something this childish?"
He leaned in close, his warm breath brushing her ear. "I enjoy it. If I want to do something, I'll make it happen. So you'd better behave yourself. If I catch you making eyes at another man..."
His unfinished sentence hung heavy with threat.
Vivian snatched her handbag and walked out without looking back.
Liam followed at a leisurely pace, a pleased smile gracing his lips.
They reached the hotel lobby where staff immediately approached. "Miss Bennett, your car is waiting."
Vivian nodded politely. "Thank you. Please book a dinner for one for tonight."
Liam's expression instantly darkened.
He gripped her wrist and calmly told the staff, "That won't be necessary. We'll handle dinner ourselves."
Turning back to Vivian, he adopted a gentle smile. "Darling, I'll take you to the finest restaurant."
Vivian wanted to refuse, but meeting his warning gaze, she swallowed her words.
