Chapter 466

Vivian Bennett moved through the party crowd with bright enthusiasm.

She held Liam Sullivan's hand, introducing him to several renowned industry veterans.

Liam appeared indifferent, a flicker of impatience in his eyes.

But seeing Vivian's sparkling gaze, he maintained basic courtesy.

He politely shook hands, a perfectly measured smile on his lips.

After the introductions, Vivian chatted happily with a silver-haired older woman.

Liam had no interest in such socializing.

Seeing she was an elderly lady, he relaxed slightly.

He took a cocktail and turned toward the garden.

"Is that handsome gentleman your boyfriend?" The older woman smiled, studying Vivian.

Vivian paused, her smile strained.

"It's not what you think."

"The way he looks at you is special." The woman said meaningfully. "Cold on the surface, but his eyes never leave you."

Vivian pressed her lips together, silent.

"If you like him, you should hold on tight." The woman lowered her voice. "Several young ladies were asking about him earlier. Western girls are much more forward than Eastern ones."

A strange tightness gripped Vivian's chest.

She instinctively scanned the room, but Liam was gone.

She picked up her glass and walked into the garden. The night breeze carried a chill.

A faint sound came from deep within the garden.

Vivian's steps halted.

Among the swaying shadows of flowers, a man and woman embraced intimately.

A blonde woman kissed the man before her passionately.

Vivian meant to retreat, but then she clearly saw the man's profile.

Her pupils contracted sharply. Her fingertips turned icy.

She retreated silently back to the hall, her face pale as paper.

The glass in her hand nearly shattered from her grip.

So this tender affection was nothing but an elaborate deception.

She set down her glass and bid farewell to the host.

The host asked in surprise, "Aren't you leaving with Mr. Sullivan?"

Vivian forced a bitter smile and disappeared through the doorway.

She didn't hear the sudden exclamation behind her.

"Someone's fallen into the water—"
