Chapter 475
Hope flickered back to life in Vivian Bennett's heart.
She dried her hair and stepped out of the bathroom.
The room was empty.
Liam Sullivan was gone.
Her heart suddenly felt hollow.
That awful man.
He stirred her up and then just vanished.
He didn't even say goodbye.
She sat on the edge of the bed, sulking.
Ten minutes later, the lock clicked softly.
Her eyes instantly lit up.
Liam Sullivan walked in carrying a paper box.
A teasing smirk played on his lips.
"I was only gone for a moment."
"Did you miss me this much already?"
Vivian shot him an annoyed glare.
"Don't flatter yourself."
"I wasn't missing you at all."
She denied it stubbornly.
But deep down, she had felt uneasy.
After all, he had just confessed his deep feelings.
Then he disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Anyone would start overthinking.
Liam brought over a small table.
He placed the paper box on it.
Vivian peeked over curiously.
"What's this?"
"Some pastries and hot soup."
He carefully unwrapped the packaging.
Delicate pastries steamed warmly.
The creamy soup smelled rich and inviting.
"You haven't been eating well these past few days."
"Drink some soup to warm your stomach first."
Vivian's eyes grew warm.
So he had gone out to buy food.
He noticed she hadn't been eating much.
He prepared this specially, worried she might be hungry.
His thoughtfulness moved her.
She remembered that night in Country K.
She had left him alone and walked away.
The dinner he had meticulously prepared.
Was left neglected and cold.
He must have been so hurt then.
Liam ladled out the soup and handed it to her.
He then arranged the pastries for her.
His movements were surprisingly skilled.
Vivian held the soup bowl and sighed.
"I didn't expect you to be so proficient."
"I thought a young master like you couldn't do anything."
He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
He also had a hedonistic personality.
He avoided lifting a finger if he could.
Yet he handled things with such efficiency.
Liam raised an eyebrow and chuckled lightly.
"You thought I was useless?"
"Being lazy doesn't mean I'm incapable."
A shadow passed through his eyes.
His voice suddenly turned colder.
"No one can be lucky forever."
"Survival skills are fundamental."
"Even at my lowest, I wouldn't starve."
Vivian noticed the shift in his tone.
The hint of sarcasm was startling.
