Chapter 61
Liam Sullivan stopped walking and did not come closer.
His deep voice softened. "It's dark. I'll take you home."
Vivian Bennett immediately shook her head. "I still have to work overtime. I can't leave."
She had only finished one-third of the documents Hannah Green gave her.
If she didn't hurry, she wouldn't sleep tonight.
"Overtime?" Liam frowned, his expression darkening.
The entire department had left. Why was she the only one still here?
Vivian didn't want to explain.
There was no need to tell the big boss about offending her supervisor and being given extra work.
It would sound like she was complaining. If it got back to Hannah Green, things would only get worse.
"You should go back first." She waved her hand and returned to her desk to continue organizing files.
Liam stood still, his gaze deep and intense as he watched her.
His handsome face showed no emotion.
His phone suddenly vibrated.
Liam took out his phone and walked outside to answer it.
It was Isabella Sullivan.
"Brother, why aren't you here yet? Grandma and Grandpa have been waiting for you."
Liam's voice was low. "I'm not coming. You all eat first."
Isabella was surprised. "Why? You promised to come back together."
He had agreed to accompany her back to the family estate tonight.
Although he sent a message telling her to go first, she thought he would arrive soon.
He had never broken a promise before.
"I'm hanging up." Liam didn't explain and ended the call directly.
...
Vivian worked through the entire night and finally finished organizing all the documents.
The injury on her lower back hurt more from sitting for so long.
She had been focused on finishing the work and had no time to deal with it.
It was already bright outside.
Seven in the morning.
Her colleagues would arrive for work in another hour.
Vivian was so tired her eyelids were heavy.
She put away the files and went to the restroom to freshen up.
"You're at the company so early?" The cleaning lady had just come in to clean and looked at her in surprise.
Vivian smiled but didn't say anything.
She had been here since last night.
She was exhausted, hungry, and her lower back was in severe pain.
Although Liam had given her ointment, she hadn't had time to apply it.
Vivian planned to order takeout and buy a pair of disposable underwear after returning to her desk.
As soon as she stepped out of the restroom, her forehead bumped into a hard chest.
She rubbed her forehead in pain and looked up.
"Boss Liam?"
