Chapter 76

"This is bad. The new girl Vivian Bennett is so pretty. Who knows what shady methods she used to cozy up to Manager Green?" a female colleague sneered sarcastically.

"I'm not so sure. Manager Green has been giving Vivian a hard time lately. Maybe she's deliberately targeting her."

"If you ask me, either Manager Green is being unreasonable, or Vivian has someone powerful backing her. It's hard to say who will win this showdown!"

Vivian Bennett straightened her spine, her gaze firm as she looked at Hannah Green. "Manager Green, I really did stay up all last night organizing documents at the office."

Hannah Green scoffed, crossing her arms. "Proof? Where's your witness? Where's your evidence?"

A witness?

Did that couple having a secret affair in the office last night count?

A flicker of hope rose in Vivian's eyes, only to fade quickly.

Those two dared to have an affair at the office. Why would they step forward to testify for her?

The big boss, Liam Sullivan?

If he came forward as a witness, it would only make everyone suspicious of their relationship.

Physical evidence?

Unless they checked the security footage.

But if the footage went public, everyone would see her entangled with Liam Sullivan.

Seeing her silence, Hannah Green lifted her chin triumphantly. "What's the matter? Nothing to say?"

"I..." Vivian clenched her fists, her nails digging deep into her palms.

She had evidence, but she couldn't use any of it.

"I've never seen an employee like you. Full of lies, thinking you can bluff your way through!" Hannah Green scolded sharply, her eyes fierce.

Colleagues in the office began whispering amongst themselves. Their pointed stares felt like needles pricking her skin.

Vivian felt trapped in an invisible cage, surrounded by malicious speculation from all sides.

She knew clearly that even if she admitted fault now, Hannah Green would not let her off.

This was all orchestrated by Isabella Sullivan behind the scenes. Hannah Green was just the executor.

As the deputy manager, Hannah Green's position gave her power.

Even if some felt sympathy for Vivian, they didn't dare speak up for her publicly.

More chose to side with Hannah Green, seizing the chance to curry favor with their superior.

"If it were me, I'd just resign. She didn't get anything done and even lost the documents. How does she still have the nerve to argue!"

"Exactly. She still refuses to admit her mistake. Manager Green is being far too kind!"

"Manager Green is being too generous. I would have fired her long ago!"

Amid the rising chorus of discussion, Vivian felt as if she were drowning in bitterness.

What had she done wrong?

She worked overtime through the night, diligently doing her job, yet the documents vanished.

Who had stolen the fruits of her labor?

Were these people, eager to please Hannah Green, determined to destroy her?

Vivian bit her lower lip hard. A powerful urge to resign surged within her.
