Chapter 94

Liam Sullivan felt a sudden weight in his chest.

Was she really this eager to cut ties with him?

"Mr. Sullivan, I'll be leaving now."

Vivian Bennett curved her lips into a polite smile.

Her tone was respectful yet distant.

Without waiting for his response, she quickly pushed the door open and got out of the car.

She was afraid that if she hesitated for even a second, he would pin her against the car and kiss her until she couldn't breathe.

She rushed into the gated community without looking back.

She ran all the way home.

The big boss had personally approved her leave, so she hadn't gone to the company these past few days.

But she wasn't idle.

She went to the Seattle Sanitarium to visit her grandmother, Margaret Bennett.

Her grandmother was advanced in years and suffered from a rare disease, requiring long-term care.

Vivian usually had to work to earn money, so she could only entrust her grandmother to the sanitarium.

She visited whenever she had free time.

These days off were a perfect opportunity to spend more time with her.

The doctors said her condition had been stable recently.

She hadn't had any episodes.

Seeing the fine weather, Vivian wanted to take her grandmother out for some fresh air.

"Grandma, how about we go to Le Bernardin?"

It was her grandmother's favorite restaurant from the old days.

The old woman's eyes lit up, but then she shook her head.

"It's too expensive. Let's not go."

"I'm earning money now. Let me treat you just this once?" Vivian coaxed gently.

"You work hard for your money. Don't waste it." The old woman still couldn't bring herself to agree.

Vivian linked her arm through her grandmother's. "My performance has been good lately. The boss gave me a bonus. Let's go celebrate with me?"

The old woman looked skeptical. "Really?"

Vivian nodded emphatically. "Of course it's true. If we don't go soon, their signature dishes will be sold out."

She finally managed to persuade her grandmother.

She hailed a taxi and helped her grandmother inside.

But shortly after they set off, clear skies suddenly turned overcast with dark clouds.

It soon began to rain.

The driver slammed on the brakes and pulled over to the side of the road.

"Driver, what's wrong?"

Vivian shielded her grandmother and asked urgently.

"Sorry, miss. Car trouble. Let me get out and take a look."

The driver got out and popped the hood.

Vivian thought it would be fixed quickly.

But after waiting over half an hour, the driver still hadn't returned.

The rain grew heavier.

After a few words to her grandmother, Vivian grabbed the spare umbrella and got out of the car.

Inside the Rolls-Royce.

Isabella Sullivan had managed to get into Liam Sullivan's car.

She spent the whole ride trying to ingratiate herself.

"Brother, how about having dinner together tonight? It's been so long since you spent time with me and Brandon."

She made the suggestion softly, deliberately using their younger brother as an excuse.

Liam still refused.

"I have plans tonight."

His voice was cold, commanding authority without any hint of anger.

Isabella wasn't ready to give up. She leaned closer to him.

"Brother, when will you have time to take Brandon and me abroad for a vacation?" She batted her eyelashes, her face full of expectation.
