Chapter 355
Sophia: "..."
She was seriously beginning to question Ethan's taste in fashion.
But she changed anyway.
Because she didn’t want to argue.
However, Lily protested loudly. "It’s ugly!"
"Objection overruled!" Ethan glared at her. "Your mother and I both agree on this outfit. Majority wins."
Lily pouted, giving him the most unimpressed look. "I’ll build a robot tonight and beat you! Humph!"
Sophia stifled a laugh.
Ethan shot her a warning glance, and she immediately fell silent.
The family of three remained quiet until Nathan arrived to pick them up.
As soon as they got in the car, Nathan noticed something different.
Though no one spoke, the atmosphere was warm—almost suffocatingly sweet.
He cleared his throat. "So…?"
"I beat Daddy yesterday!" Lily announced proudly.
Nathan raised a brow. "Oh? How did you manage that, little princess?"
"I built a robot faster than him! And mine had more functions!" Her eyes sparkled with triumph.
She had been too excited to sleep last night.
Even after Ethan tucked her in, she sneaked out of bed the moment he left.
Deep down, she adored him—she just wasn’t ready to admit it yet.
And for her mother’s sake, she wasn’t about to soften too quickly.
Nathan chuckled. "You know, your father isn’t someone just anyone can defeat. In this world, only two people can—your mother… and you."
He meant it as a joke.
But Lily took it seriously.
"Then I get to punish him!" she declared.
Nathan barely held back his laughter. "And what did you do?"
She grinned mischievously. "I almost turned his nose into a pig’s snout!"
Nathan nearly choked.
This was front-page material.
The ruthless CEO of Blackwood Enterprises, Ethan Blackwood—defeated by his own daughter and turned into a pig?
He needed a career change. Journalism sounded tempting.
But Lily wasn’t done.
"Oh! And last night, I saw Daddy hugging Mommy!"
Nathan swerved.
Sophia’s face burned crimson.
Ethan’s voice was ice. "Pull over."
Nathan’s hands trembled. "Sir, I—"
Am I about to be fired for witnessing this?
Sophia took pity on him. "It’s fine, Nathan. We’ll walk Lily the rest of the way."
He exhaled in relief. "Thank you, Mrs. Blackwood."
Sophia stepped out, guiding Lily toward the kindergarten gates.
There, they ran into Emily and her mother, Victoria.
Emily wore a frilly princess dress, but next to Lily’s tailored pink coat and side ponytail, she paled in comparison.
"Emily! You look so pretty!" Lily beamed, taking her friend’s hand.
Emily admired Lily’s outfit. "Where did you get that coat? I want one too!"
The girls gushed over each other, oblivious to the tension between their mothers.
Victoria eyed Sophia with disdain. "You walked here?"
Sophia nodded.
Victoria smirked. "No car? I suppose the bus stop is a bit far from the school."
Sophia ignored her.
She wasn’t here to socialize.
But Victoria wasn’t done.
"Pathetic," she sneered. "Dressing your child in expensive clothes just to show off? Poor people shouldn’t pretend to be rich."
Sophia kept walking.
Victoria followed, heels clicking. "I’ll speak to the principal today. Your daughter doesn’t belong here."
Sophia finally stopped.
Her voice was calm but firm.
"Try it."
