Chapter 138
Vivian Bennett felt like she was dreaming.
She pinched herself hard.
It hurt.
This wasn't a dream.
But she couldn't understand.
Why was Liam Sullivan being so kind to her?
He never lacked women around him.
Why did he choose her?
Vivian got out of bed to wash up.
As she reached the bedroom door, she bumped into Liam coming from the kitchen.
"Rest at home this afternoon. Don't go to the office," his deep voice instructed.
"But..." Vivian started to protest.
"I approved a week's leave for you. Rest well at home this week," Liam looked at her intently.
Vivian was stunned.
A week's leave?
Approved by the big boss himself?
Although Manager Hannah wouldn't dare say anything, a week seemed too long.
She just had a cold and fever. The fever had already subsided.
She could work tomorrow.
Or at least be back at her desk the day after.
"The business trip was exhausting. Rest well at home," Liam explained softly.
He then strode toward the door.
Vivian paused, suddenly understanding.
The big boss was compensating her with time off.
He truly noticed everything.
Vivian was so moved she nearly cried.
She walked Liam to the door.
He suddenly pressed her against the wall.
Liam wrapped his arm around her waist and kissed her deeply.
The kiss was passionate and lingering.
Vivian felt dizzy from the kiss.
Her cheeks flushed red.
"Rest well. Call me if you need anything," Liam whispered tenderly.
He kissed her forehead once more before turning to leave.
Watching Liam's retreating figure, Vivian realized belatedly.
She had a cold and fever today.
He kissed her like that. Wasn't he afraid of getting infected?
But she didn't dislike this kiss.
Instead, she felt secretly pleased.
After Liam left, Vivian stayed home alone eating fruit and watching TV.
She ordered takeout for dinner.
Her body felt weak after the fever. She didn't want to go anywhere.
She went to bed early.
Late at night, Vivian woke from her sleep.
Her body felt unusually hot. Her head was heavy.
She had a fever again.
Going to the hospital in the middle of the night was too troublesome.
She turned on the night light and searched for the medical kit.
She found the fever reducer.
Vivian swallowed a few pills with some water before lying back down.
Just as she was about to fall asleep, her phone rang.
She answered impatiently. "Hello..."
"Are you feeling better?" Liam's concerned voice came through the phone.
Vivian froze.
The fever made her mind sluggish.
"Not better," she blurted out.
She immediately regretted it.
Why did she tell him that?
As she regreted, Liam's voice came again. "Open the door."
Vivian was confused. "What?"
Liam commanded. "Open the door. I'm outside your apartment."
