Chapter 167
Vivian Bennett hurried to the front door of the villa.
She intended to seize this chance to slip away.
"Stop." Liam Sullivan's icy voice suddenly rang out behind her.
Vivian froze. She turned around in a fluster. "I... I was waiting for you."
Hearing her say she waited for him, Liam's expression softened slightly.
But he had just taken a cold shower for over twenty minutes. His irritation hadn't fully subsided yet.
Liam had changed into a custom-tailored suit.
His face was stern. He didn't even glance at Vivian.
He only uttered one word. "Go."
He then strode forward with his long legs.
"Huh?" Vivian stood rooted to the spot.
Liam glanced back at her. "Don't you need to go to work? Or do you want to stay?"
His gaze swept over her meaningfully.
"No... I need to work. I'm very passionate about my job!" Vivian hurriedly declared, nearly biting her tongue.
As long as she left this place and returned to the company, she wouldn't have to worry about him misbehaving.
Vivian grabbed her small bag, slung it over her shoulder, and quickly followed Liam.
Strangely, he usually walked very fast. Today, however, she could keep up with his pace.
They stepped out of the villa. The sunlight was blinding.
Vivian was dazed for a moment.
She raised her hand to shield her eyes from the sun. Only then did she see the luxurious grandeur of Liam's villa.
There was no time to look closely. A stretched limousine had already pulled up in front of them.
The driver respectfully opened the door.
Liam got into the back seat. He glanced at the woman still standing frozen.
"Get in." He lowered the window, his voice deep.
"Coming!" Vivian snapped back to reality. She quickly put on a smiling face and got into the car.
She sat pressed against the window, putting as much distance between herself and Liam as possible.
Thinking she would soon be free of him, she secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
But another problem troubled her.
She was very late. Manager Hannah Green would definitely not let her off easily.
She would inevitably face public humiliation again.
Vivian had a headache.
She couldn't just tell Manager Hannah that she overslept because she was with the boss last night.
What excuse could she use to explain her lateness?
Vivian worried the entire way until the car entered the Sullivan Group's underground parking garage.
The moment the car stopped, she couldn't wait to get out.
"Thank you, Boss Liam. I'll go up first!" She turned around to thank him politely, eager to run to the elevator.
"Stop. Where are you going?" Liam pushed the car door open and got out. He suddenly called out to her.
Vivian stopped walking. She looked back, confused.
She really wanted to retort: Of course, I'm going back to work.
But facing her boss, she could only reply softly, "Boss Liam, I need to return to the Public Relations Department. Manager Hannah has arranged many tasks for me today."
She specifically mentioned Hannah Green, hoping Liam would understand her situation.
If he didn't let her go soon, her direct supervisor would skin her alive.
"You're coming with me to the executive office." Liam raised an eyebrow. His tone brooked no argument.
"What?" Vivian's face changed dramatically. She was incredulous.
She gritted her teeth in anger, feeling he was deliberately making things difficult for her.
He knew her supervisor was looking for trouble. Yet he insisted on taking her to the executive office. Wasn't this making her even later?
"I requested a sick leave for you this morning. If you go back now, wouldn't that make me look bad?" Liam said calmly.
Before she could react, he had already turned and walked toward his private elevator.
