Chapter 212
Vivian Bennett’s mind was in turmoil.
Suddenly, her wrist was seized.
She nearly cried out in alarm.
Looking up, she met Liam Sullivan’s deep gaze.
The moonlight outlined his tall, straight figure.
Flickering shadows fell across his face.
They softened his usually sharp, cold features.
“What are you staring at?” His low voice broke the silence.
His warm palm enveloped her hand.
He led her forward slowly.
Their shadows stretched long under the moonlight.
Though they walked apart.
Their shadows intertwined intimately.
Vivian flustered, tried to pull her hand away.
Liam only held on tighter.
“Let me go!” Her voice trembled.
“What are you afraid of?” He chuckled softly. “There’s no one here.”
“Even so!” She bit her lip.
His heart already belonged to another.
Why did he insist on provoking her?
Liam watched her nervous expression.
A playful smile touched his lips.
“I’m not letting go.”
Vivian stamped her foot in frustration.
But there was nothing she could do.
Liam stopped teasing her.
“I’m taking you somewhere.”
“I’m not going.” She stood her ground.
Liam narrowed his eyes.
He leaned in suddenly.
His lips almost brushed her ear.
“Standing still,” his breath was hot, “do you want me to carry you?”
Vivian’s ears turned bright red.
She tried to push him away.
But he swept her up into his arms.
“Ah!” she gasped in surprise.
Instinctively, she wrapped her arms around his neck.
Her heart raced wildly.
“Put me down! I’ll walk!”
“Too late.” He held her tighter.
Vivian was both embarrassed and angry.
“You’re so domineering!”
“Would you listen if I weren’t?” He raised an eyebrow.
Vivian was speechless.
She knew arguing was pointless.
She softened her voice.
“Put me down. I promise I’ll behave.”
Liam finally seemed satisfied.
He set her down gently.
But his large hand still held hers firmly.
They strolled along the path.
Moonlight cast a silver glow everywhere.
Vivian didn’t know where they were going.
She felt anxious, yet strangely calm.
Walking beside him.
Gave her an inexplicable sense of peace.
It was just too bad…
They were destined to have no future.
A faint bitterness rose in her heart.
Soon, they arrived at a lake.
The water was like a mirror, reflecting the moonlight.
It was so serene and beautiful, it didn’t seem real.
Vivian never knew the resort had such a view.
She regretted not bringing her camera.
“It’s beautiful,” she whispered.
Liam gazed at her profile.
“You’re more beautiful.”
