Chapter 241

Vivian Bennett's mind was a tangled mess of conflicting thoughts.

She truly did not know what to do.

"Driver, let's head back," she finally sighed after a long silence.

The driver nodded understandingly and turned the car toward the city.

Perhaps sensing her low spirits, he offered comfort. "Miss, if you didn't see it, just pretend it never happened."

"Sometimes what you don't see can't hurt you."

"Life is too short to dwell on every little thing. It only brings unnecessary pain."

Vivian closed her eyes and did not respond.

Could she really adopt an out of sight, out of mind approach?

She didn't know if her cousin Grace Harper could do it.

But if it were happening to her, she knew she could never tolerate it.

The warm facade of life had been torn away, revealing a bloody reality.

How much forgiveness would it take to simply ignore all of this?

The car moved steadily forward as Vivian's thoughts drifted further away.

The driver eventually pulled over and turned to her. "Miss, we've already circled half the city."

"Continuing would just waste both time and money. Where would you like to get out?"

His words hit her like a sudden wake-up call.

She immediately took out her phone and called her best friend. "Sophia, I need a drink. Meet me at that bar downtown?"

After hanging up, Vivian paid and got out of the car, heading straight for the bar.

In the car, she had felt an urgent need to release her long-suppressed emotions.

That's why she called Sophia Miller.

Unfortunately, Sophia had already gone abroad again and was currently overseas.

Left with no choice, Vivian decided to go to the bar alone.

To her surprise, she ran into Zachary Hudson right at the entrance.

He wore a camel coat casually left open, leaning lazily against the doorframe.

His elegant posture drew frequent glances and whispered giggles from passing girls.

When he saw Vivian, he immediately waved, a mischievous smile curling his lips.

Vivian initially thought about turning away to avoid him.

But then she reconsidered. Why should she hide?

She had made her position clear and had done nothing wrong.

What did her coming to the bar have to do with him?

Why should she deliberately avoid him?

With that thought, Vivian ignored Zachary completely and strode into the bar.

Unexpectedly, he followed right behind her.

"Didn't expect to see you here looking for fun," he said, a sly glint in his peach blossom eyes.

"I'm not here for fun," Vivian retorted coldly.

"Then what are you here for?" Zachary raised an eyebrow.

"To drink." Vivian felt suffocated and wanted to drown her sorrows.

Zachary's smile widened. "How about I keep you company?"

Just as Vivian was about to refuse, he added lazily, "I was having a great time with a beauty."

"But I dropped everything the moment I saw you. Pretty considerate, right?"

Vivian scoffed dismissively.

Who cared!

Seeing her ignore him, Zachary chuckled again.

The bar's colorful lights reflected in his peach blossom eyes, creating ripples of shimmering color.
