Chapter 268
The air grew thick and suffocating.
Vivian Bennett's cheeks burned with embarrassment.
She just wanted to end this awkward standoff quickly.
Gritting her teeth, she closed her eyes and pressed her lips against his cool ones.
She tried to pull back immediately, but Liam Sullivan suddenly cupped the back of her neck.
The kiss instantly deepened, becoming heart-stoppingly intimate.
After a long while, he finally released her, seeming reluctant to stop.
His deep voice held a teasing note. "Your kissing skills still need practice."
Vivian's muddled thoughts abruptly cleared.
She glared at him, flustered and angry. "Liam Sullivan, are you leaving or not?"
Liam chuckled softly and ruffled her hair. "So eager to get rid of me?"
His gaze was intense, his tone suggestive.
Vivian's ears instantly turned fiery red.
"Who... who's reluctant to part with him?" She quickly pulled the door open, adopting a see-you-out posture.
Liam watched her actions, his eyes darkening. "You heartless little thing."
He leaned close to her ear. "Wait for me tonight."
Vivian panicked immediately. "No! My cousin is staying over recently."
Liam didn't want to push too hard and nodded agreeably. "Alright, I won't come over tonight."
As the door closed, Vivian let out a long sigh of relief.
Fragments of last night remained blurry.
She hurriedly dialed her cousin's number.
"Cousin, was it you who brought me home last night?"
Grace Harper answered promptly. "Of course it was me. I watched you enter the complex before leaving."
Vivian hesitated. "I just wanted to confirm..."
Grace asked the next second. "Did something happen?"
"Nothing..." Vivian hastily denied.
She couldn't exactly say she almost forced herself on Liam Sullivan last night.
She quickly changed the subject. "Is the new job going well?"
Grace's tone was light. "The salary is very satisfying, but..."
She suddenly trailed off.
Vivian pressed. "But what?"
Grace was silent for a moment, ultimately saying nothing. "It's nothing. I have to get to work now."
The call ended. Vivian held her phone, staring blankly.
How did she actually get home last night?
Why did Liam Sullivan appear?
What exactly did she do to him?
Countless questions swirled in her mind, but she couldn't remember anything.
Vivian collapsed onto the sofa dejectedly, burying her face in a cushion.
