Chapter 320

Dreams shifted endlessly.

Bizarre and colorful images flashed through her mind.

Vivian Bennett gradually woke up.

She remembered she had to work today.

The thought made her head throb painfully.

Her cold hadn't fully recovered.

Her throat still burned with a raw, unbearable pain.

She curled up in bed.

Her gaze was unfocused as she stared out the window.

After quietly collecting her emotions, she finally struggled to get up.

Her phone was eerily silent.

At this hour, no one had contacted her.

Even Emily Davis, who usually called frantically if she was five minutes late, was completely silent.

It was highly unusual.

By 11:30 AM, the Sullivan Group tower had been operating for hours.

The elevator was packed with well-dressed elite men and women.

Though ill, Vivian showed no signs of sickness.

She moved through the crowd with graceful steps.

"Vivian, what are you doing here?" Emily looked at her with surprise.

Vivian blinked. "I came to work."

Emily looked confused. "Didn't you take a week of sick leave?"

Vivian paused. "I felt better. No point sitting around at home."

She had just sat down when her phone rang.

"Who said you could go to work?"

Liam Sullivan's displeased voice came through the receiver.

Vivian raised an eyebrow. "I felt fine, so I came."

There was a brief silence on the other end. "Did you take your medicine?"

"Yes," Vivian answered guiltily.

Liam's tone was serious. "I'll be busy these next few days. Take your medicine and rest properly. Understand?"

Vivian agreed softly.

A few days later, she had fully recovered.

Liam had barely contacted her during this time.

No calls. No appearances at her doorstep.

His absence was a welcome peace.

At 6:30 in the morning, she woke up unusually early.

She had slept exceptionally well the night before.

She felt reasonably refreshed.

She leaned against the headboard for a short rest.

The temperature outside had plummeted.

A cold wind whipped heavy rain against the window.

After days of howling winds, the downpour had finally arrived.

The dense curtain of rain blurred the glass into a frosted texture.

A faint chill permeated the air.

Vivian put on a robe and got out of bed.

She still felt a piercing cold.

She decided to find some warmer clothes.

Liam's suit and shirt still hung in her walk-in closet.

He had left them there after his last visit and never retrieved them.

She had ironed them neatly and hung them up, forgetting to return them all this time.

Vivian stood before his suit for a long while.

She gently pressed her face against the fine fabric.

It almost felt like his presence surrounded her.

She slowly closed her eyes.

She thought she should find a way to return them to him.

She went to the kitchen to brew a cup of coffee for energy.

The bitter liquid spread across her tongue, dispelling her morning fatigue.

She casually turned on the sound system on the counter.

It was still early.

Accompanied by the low, elegant melody of blues music, she stepped into the bathroom for a hot shower.
