Chapter 38
Her phone rang abruptly, shattering the silence.
Vivian Bennett felt dizzy from hunger and answered without looking.
"Hello?" Her voice was weak.
"Where are you?" A deep, authoritative male voice came through the phone.
This voice... sounded familiar?
Vivian froze. "What?"
"I asked where you are." His tone intensified, carrying an undeniable pressure.
Vivian almost answered instinctively but grew cautious. "Who is this?"
"Liam Sullivan."
Three words exploded like thunder.
Vivian instantly stiffened, her mind going blank.
Liam Sullivan?
Why would he call her?
"You... you..." She stumbled over her words, finally forcing out, "Is something wrong?"
"Why didn't you wait for me after work?" Liam's voice was cold and deep.
Vivian's eyelashes fluttered as she suddenly remembered last night's text.
Could it really have been from him?
Silence fell on the other end of the line. Liam frowned deeply.
He had specifically gone to the PR department after his meeting, only to find it empty.
Did she not see the text, or was she deliberately avoiding him?
A tense atmosphere spread through the phone line.
Vivian held her breath, not daring to make a sound.
"Tell me again. Where are you?" Liam's voice returned, leaving no room for refusal.
Vivian jolted and obediently gave the address of the night market food stalls.
"Mr. Sullivan, work hours are over..." she reminded him quietly.
"Picking you up for dinner." Liam hung up directly.
"But I was just about to eat..." Vivian stared at the disconnected phone and tugged her hair in frustration.
Liam Sullivan wanted to take her to dinner?
Did she hear that correctly?
She had lost sleep all night because of his text.
Today, she endured cold treatment at Hudson Group and starved until now.
And now the big boss suddenly wanted to take her to dinner?
What kind of act was this?
