Chapter 386

She didn't know the answer.

Grace Harper gently nudged Vivian Bennett who was lost in thought.

Vivian snapped back to reality. "What is it?"

"I think Liam Sullivan is serious about you."

"Serious about what?"

"His feelings for you don't seem fake."

Vivian smiled bitterly. "Feelings have no true or false. William White and my mother were so deeply in love back then, yet they still separated in the end."

She paused. "I admit I have a relationship with Liam Sullivan, but it's limited to the bedroom. Anything more, I can't afford to want."

Grace gave her a sharp push. "You're just too scared to want it, aren't you? Liam Sullivan never gets close to women. The number of women who have entered his private residence can be counted on one hand. Think about it. What does it mean that he let you move in here?"

Those words struck like thunder.

Vivian clenched the key tightly, a sour ache spreading through her heart.

Liam Sullivan, did you give me this key to allow me into your heart?

Grace stayed and had breakfast with her.

Vivian tried on the new lingerie. The size was perfect.

She teased, "Cousin, you still remember my size?"

Grace grinned mischievously. "I certainly don't. Liam Sullivan told me over the phone. He knows you inside and out."

Vivian's face flushed hot. She hurriedly pulled on her sweater.

"Stop talking nonsense!"

"It's the truth. He even remembers your measurements perfectly."

Grace had things to attend to. Before leaving, she repeatedly warned Vivian not to run off anywhere.

Vivian glared at her. "Do I seem like the type to do something that foolish?"

She had survived much harder times. What was a little heartache compared to that?

After Grace left, Vivian flipped through some magazines.

They were all high-fashion women's publications.

Her cousin never read these. Liam must have prepared them.

With him around, she felt like she had found a safe harbor.

But how long could this kind of reliance last?
