Chapter 400

Brandon White frowned deeply.

"What exactly are you trying to say, Mom?"

"I'm saying that no matter what your father thinks of Vivian, and no matter how he has neglected her all these years, I am certain he will leave her a portion of his will. I cannot allow that. She does not deserve anything from the White family. That is why I arranged this compatibility test behind your father's back. Once the results are out, even if he wants to give her something, he won't be able to."

Linda White's words left Brandon utterly confused.

He wanted to press further, but Linda had already turned away coldly.

She resumed stirring the soup in the pot.

The next morning, Brandon arrived at the hospital half an hour early.

It was just seven o'clock.

Vivian Bennett parked her car in the underground parking garage.

She took the elevator directly to the inpatient floor.

She wasn't sure which room William White was in.

But this private hospital only had three premium suites.

Vivian found it quickly.

The room was at the far south end of the hallway.

The door was shut.

A brass nameplate engraved with "William White" was fixed to it.

Vivian stood outside the door.

Her heart pounded like a drum.

She lacked the courage to push it open.

How ridiculous.

Her own father was hospitalized.

Yet she didn't even have the courage to visit him openly.

She could only hesitate secretly outside the door.

She was afraid of causing another conflict with William.

She feared worsening his condition.

A sound suddenly came from the direction of the elevators.

She darted into the stairwell like a startled rabbit.

At eight o'clock sharp, Vivian arrived at the compatibility testing room.

The doctor had been waiting for some time.

She needed to complete the pre-test preparations.

Everything was ready.

They were about to begin.

The door to the examination room was suddenly thrown open.

William White stood there, furious.

Dr. Adrian Valentine followed behind him, looking helpless.

Linda and Brandon hurried after them.

The moment Vivian saw William, her nose stung with acid.

This was not the father she remembered.

His temples were streaked with gray.

His face was haggard.

His once well-proportioned frame was now painfully thin.

He exuded an air of desolation.

Vivian could barely bring herself to look at him.

Her throat felt blocked.

She couldn't make a sound.

William charged into the room, roaring.

"What are you doing here? Why did you come? Get out! Get out right now!"

His intense emotions made his voice hoarse.

After shouting, he breathed rapidly.

Linda had to continuously pat his back to help him catch his breath.

"Alright, alright, William, don't get so worked up. Vivian is just here for a liver compatibility test. She kept it from you because she was afraid you wouldn't agree..."

"Kept it from me? Did she think I wouldn't find out?" William lifted his head.

He shot Vivian an icy glare.

The hatred in his eyes was painfully sharp.

Vivian could no longer bear that look.

It felt more painful than being cut by a knife.

"Why? Why do you hate me so much?" She fought back tears.

She finally voiced the question that had been buried in her heart for years.

William held onto Linda's arm.

He took half a step back.

The question seemed to evoke a strange fear in him.

But he refused to acknowledge that fear.

His face remained cold.

His eyes were red.

He pressed on aggressively.
