Chapter 408

Liam Sullivan’s warm breath brushed against Vivian Bennett’s ear.

Her body went weak.

She could barely stand.

This man’s proposal was utterly lacking in sincerity.

She lifted her chin, pretending to be haughty.

“Is this how you propose? No flowers, no sweet words? It feels like I forced you into this. Let’s discuss it another time.”

Vivian removed the ring and placed it back on the tray.

Liam looked at the returned ring.

He wasn’t angry.

Instead, he asked the manager to wrap it carefully.

He had prepared these jewels for a long time.

But he never figured out how to propose.

If she hadn’t mentioned having children last night, he wouldn’t have rushed her here.

Since she wanted a romantic proposal, he would prepare properly.

He would give her a surprise.

Liam picked up a necklace from the tray.

He gently fastened it around her neck.

His fingers brushed against the jade pendant at her throat.

His brow furrowed slightly.

“Stop wearing this jade. Since it’s your mother’s keepsake, store it somewhere safe.”

Vivian pouted.

“No. They say jade needs to be worn often to retain its spirit.”

Liam’s eyes darkened.

“Do you want to flaunt it and drive my uncle insane?”

Vivian shuddered, remembering Albert Sullivan’s violent outburst.

He was right.

If Albert truly lost his mind and saw this jade, who knew what he might do?

She hesitated.

Liam had already unfastened the jade.

“Such an important item. I’ll keep it safe for you.”

Vivian paused, then finally nodded.

Liam’s phone rang.

He glanced at the caller ID and frowned.

“Try on the other pieces yourself. I need to take this call.”

As soon as Liam left, the jewelry store manager smiled.

“Miss Bennett, Mr. Sullivan is very devoted to you. These pink diamonds were specially ordered from overseas earlier this year. He designed the sketches himself. Each piece is engraved with your initials.”

Vivian was stunned.

She picked up the ring for a closer look.

Her fingertips traced the three letters: “bww.”

Something struck her heart.

Ripples of emotion spread through her.

Liam returned after his call.

He found Vivian gazing at him with watery eyes.

His voice was low.

“What’s wrong?”

Vivian’s voice choked with emotion.

“Liam Sullivan, thank you.”

Liam chuckled softly.

“Silly...”

Before he could finish, Vivian’s phone rang.

Whatever was said on the other end, her face instantly turned pale.

She ended the call.

She grabbed Liam’s arm urgently.

“Take me to the airport! Now!”

The manager hurriedly handed the wrapped jewelry to Liam.

Liam stared at her intently.

“What happened?”

Vivian looked up.

Tears streamed down her face.

“My father... he passed away suddenly!”
