Chapter 567
Matthew Klein's gaze settled in the distance.
Liam Sullivan was holding Vivian Bennett, his movements gentle, almost cautious.
His dark eyes were filled with adoration, as if the person in his arms was the most precious treasure in the world.
Matthew narrowed his eyes, his voice low. "Is that Liam Sullivan?"
Julian Klein stood beside him and gave a slight nod.
"Yes. The current CEO of the Sullivan Group."
He paused, then added, "A business prodigy. In the ten years under his leadership, the Sullivan Group's performance has multiplied dozens of times over."
Matthew's gaze did not waver.
A complex emotion flickered in his deep-set eyes.
"Eugene went to investigate Vivian Bennett's background," he said slowly. "Why is there still no news?"
"Soon," Julian replied. "He said he'd be back in a few days."
The car door closed.
Vivian was practically carried into the car by Liam.
The familiar scent of the man enveloped her.
She leaned against his chest, her fingertips trembling slightly.
That wound in her heart began to ache faintly again.
He knew she was Albert Sullivan's daughter.
He knew this relationship was fraught with thorns.
Why did he still chase after her?
Why wouldn't he let go?
Vivian closed her eyes, trying hard to suppress the surging emotions.
"Liam," she said softly, her voice carrying a barely perceptible tremor. "Didn't we agree? To separate for now."
As the words left her mouth, she felt a pang of pain herself.
Liam looked down at her.
The woman's pale face was reflected in his eyes, fragile as glass that might shatter at a touch.
His expression darkened.
"Do you really want to separate?" he asked, his voice hoarse, carrying an undeniable coldness.
Vivian didn't dare look up.
She was afraid that if she saw him, she wouldn't be able to stop herself from throwing herself into his arms.
Afraid she would cry and say she'd rather die than be apart.
She bit her lower lip and gave a soft "Mm."
Liam's gaze remained locked on her.
"You won't regret it?" he asked again.
Vivian nodded vigorously.
The motion was so quick, as if afraid that a second's delay would make her change her mind.
Tears welled in her eyes, and she fought desperately to hold them back.
"You heartless little thing," Liam practically ground the words out between his teeth. "Just because of my uncle, you want to abandon me?"
Vivian finally raised her tear-filled eyes.
She looked at him through blurred vision.
"What else can we do?" Her voice was choked with sobs. "What other choice do we have? You know perfectly well... we can't—"
Before she could finish her sentence, his arm tightened abruptly around her waist.
Liam pulled her fiercely against him.
His cool lips descended, silencing all her unspoken words.
The moment their lips met, she heard his low, forceful voice.
"So what if you are Albert Sullivan's daughter?"
"So what if the whole world is against us?"
"I want you."
As the last word fell, the kiss turned frantic.
Like a storm sweeping in, leaving no room to breathe.
Vivian was almost suffocated.
At first, she struggled, her fingers pressing against his chest, trying to push him away.
But Liam's assault was too fierce.
His kiss carried resentment, a tearing intensity, a determination to fuse her into his very bones.
She retreated step by step.
Her reason crumbled completely.
The two of them tangled like this in the car's interior.
Urgent, fervent, as if this were their last embrace.
Only when Liam's body reacted did he slowly release her.
He rested his forehead against her shoulder, breathing heavily.
The only sound in the car was their ragged breathing.
It took a long time for it to gradually subside.
Vivian came back to her senses.
Remorse and self-reproach flooded her heart.
How could she be like this?
She knew it was wrong, yet she had still lost herself in his kiss.
She began to struggle again.
"Don't move," Liam's arm tightened, holding her firmly in his embrace.
His voice was husky and magnetic.
"Haven't you had enough after a whole day and night of this?"
