Chapter 137

Vivian Bennett’s heart skipped a beat.

She was actually imagining Liam Sullivan taking care of her.

This thought was far too dangerous.

What was his status?

CEO of the Sullivan Group.

A man who existed on an entirely different plane.

How dare she entertain such inappropriate thoughts.

Vivian pinched her palm hard.

The pain instantly cleared her mind.

The bowl of porridge was soon empty.

She felt her strength returning.

"I'm feeling much better now. You should go attend to your work," she urged softly.

She was terrified of inconveniencing him.

Liam was about to speak when his phone rang.

He answered the call.

They were sitting close together.

Isabella Sullivan’s voice was clearly audible from the other end.

"Brother, didn’t you return last night?" Isabella’s tone was probing.

"Yes," Liam replied flatly.

"Why didn’t you come to the office?" she pressed.

She had specifically gone to his office at noon.

But he wasn’t there.

His secretary said the CEO hadn’t shown up at all today.

This was highly unusual.

Her brother never acted like this.

"Would you like some more?"

Isabella didn’t get an answer. Instead, she heard her brother suddenly change the subject.

Vivian was caught off guard by his gaze.

His deep eyes were fixed intently on her.

She had to respond.

"No, thank you..."

Her voice was barely a whisper.

She was desperately afraid the person on the phone would hear.

But Isabella caught it.

There was a woman with her brother.

Could it be Vivian Bennett?

Did he go to see her as soon as he returned?

Was he skipping work for something so absurd?

Isabella’s nails dug deeply into her palms.

"Brother..."

She called out again.

Liam seemed to remember he was still on the call.

"What were you saying?"

Isabella forced down her anger.

Her tone remained gentle. "There are many urgent documents at the company waiting for your review..."

She listed a long series of pending tasks.

She emphasized their urgency.

"Understood."

Liam’s response was brief.

He ended the call immediately.

Isabella trembled with rage.

That Vivian Bennett.

She would not let her get away with this.

"I’ll go to the office this afternoon. Contact me if anything comes up."

Liam put away his phone. His eyes settled on Vivian’s face.

Vivian nodded obediently. "Alright."

She watched him pick up the bowl and utensils and leave the room.

She thought he was leaving.

But the sound of running water came from the kitchen.

He was washing the dishes.

The esteemed CEO of the Sullivan Group.

Was in her kitchen, washing dishes after preparing a meal.

The image was utterly staggering.
