Chapter 145

"Vivian, why did it take you so long to open the door?"

Sophia Miller stood outside, studying her with a puzzled expression.

Vivian Bennett's cheeks flushed pink.

Her fingers unconsciously twisted the hem of her shirt.

"I... just now..."

Sophia tilted her head.

"Did something happen?"

Vivian bit her lip, unsure how to explain.

Sophia simply stepped past her into the living room.

Her gaze casually swept over the dining area.

She saw a tall, imposing figure dressed in black.

The man wore an exquisitely tailored suit.

He radiated an aura of powerful authority.

"This is..."

Sophia's eyes widened instantly.

That sharply defined face was unmistakably Liam Sullivan.

Why was he in Vivian's apartment?

Sophia whirled around to look at her best friend.

Vivian's hair was slightly disheveled.

Her eyes shimmered with a dazed, liquid warmth.

She clearly looked like someone who had just been thoroughly loved.

Sophia suddenly understood everything.

"Did I interrupt you?" she whispered in regret.

Her best friend had finally managed to catch a high-value target like Liam Sullivan.

And she had to show up at this critical moment to ruin things.

Sophia quickly turned to leave.

But Vivian grabbed her arm.

"Since you're already here, why not stay for dinner?" she said with forced calm.

Sophia stared at her in disbelief.

Had this girl lost her mind?

Liam was still right there.

Did she really want a third wheel hanging around?

Sophia was about to make an excuse to leave.

Liam suddenly stood up.

"I'll take my leave," his deep voice resonated through the living room.

As he passed Vivian, he paused abruptly.

Vivian held her breath, tense.

"Vivian Bennett," Liam suddenly called her name.

Vivian instinctively looked up.

The man leaned down close.

His warm breath brushed against her ear.

"Wait for me tonight."

Vivian froze instantly.

Her mind went completely blank.

Wait for him tonight?

He was coming back?

The sound of the door closing startled her back to awareness.

Sophia was watching her with an amused, knowing look.

"If I said there's nothing between us, would you believe me?" Vivian hurriedly explained.

Sophia snorted lightly.

"Not a chance."

That look clearly said she already believed Vivian and Liam were involved.

Vivian massaged her temples in frustration.

"Really, it's nothing..." she weakly defended.

Sophia raised an eyebrow.

"Nothing? This is Liam Sullivan we're talking about. Do you really think he just randomly shows up at women's apartments?"
