Chapter 197
Vivian Bennett never imagined that a playboy like Zachary Hudson could be so petty.
Especially toward her.
He had clearly gained the upper hand last night, yet now he boldly demanded she take responsibility.
She suppressed her anger. "What exactly do you want me to do?"
Zachary raised an eyebrow. "Even if you won't be my official girlfriend, at least put me on the candidate list."
Vivian was stunned. "Candidate boyfriend?"
He actually wanted a serious relationship?
Not just a fling?
"You're unwilling?" Zachary feigned anger. "You can't just take advantage and not let me get even."
He thought to himself that he needed to take things slow with her.
Vivian frowned.
Despite her intense reluctance, she didn't refuse outright.
"I'll think about it."
She didn't dare offend Zachary.
Especially not now.
If she rejected him directly, the consequences of angering him were unthinkable.
Her answer left Zachary somewhat satisfied.
He stood up and walked to the bedside.
He took a paper bag from the drawer and handed it to her.
Vivian accepted it and looked inside. It was a designer dress.
She looked up in surprise.
He had prepared this in advance.
"Want to stay with me a bit longer?" Zachary teased with a wicked smile.
Vivian shot him a glare and hurried into the bathroom.
His hearty laughter followed her.
The white chiffon gown fit perfectly, accentuating her delicate curves.
The soft fabric felt luxurious against her skin, elevating her entire presence.
She silently admitted he had excellent taste.
But it only strengthened her resolve to stay away from such a skilled seducer.
After smoothing her dress, she stepped out of the bathroom.
Zachary had already changed into a crisp suit. His captivating eyes appraised her with obvious admiration.
She felt intensely uncomfortable under his gaze.
Just as she was about to speak, she heard his praise. "That dress suits you perfectly."
She didn't want to owe him. "I'll return it after I have it cleaned."
"I never take back what I give." Zachary slipped his hands into his pockets casually. "Wait for me. I'll drive you."
"I can go back by myself." Her refusal was firm.
Zachary didn't insist.
Since she mistakenly believed last night was real, he had his own ways to ensure she couldn't escape.
Vivian quickly walked toward the door.
Her hand had just touched the handle.
A teasing reminder came from behind her. "Did you forget your purse?"
