Chapter 258

To her, this relationship felt like a reflection of the moon in water or a flower in a mirror—utterly illusory and fragile.

It could shatter at any moment.

It was better to end it cleanly.

She actually felt more at ease without Liam Sullivan contacting her.

Her cousin, Grace Harper, however, had lost significant weight due to her husband Jason Harper's infidelity.

"I've decided to separate from your cousin," Grace said hoarsely, appearing at Vivian Bennett's doorstep with her suitcase.

Vivian quickly opened the door to let her in.

Grace immediately embraced her, shoulders trembling slightly.

"What happened?" Vivian asked softly.

Grace choked back tears. "He admitted it. There really is someone else."

Vivian was stunned.

She hadn't expected Jason to actually confess.

"But he refuses to break up. He won't agree to a divorce either," Grace's voice was full of exhaustion.

Vivian could hardly believe it. "Does he want to have both?"

Tears streamed down Grace's face. "He says he still loves me..."

Vivian laughed coldly in anger. "How can he love you if he's with someone else? How can you believe that?"

"I don't believe it. That's why I moved out," Grace wiped her tears and shook her head.

She couldn't accept her husband claiming to love her while being intimate with another woman.

That was her bottom line.

She had tried to salvage their marriage, but no matter what she did, Jason wouldn't return.

He even suggested having both women simultaneously, shattering Grace's last shred of hope.

"Does Jason know you've left?" Vivian asked urgently.

Grace shook her head. "He doesn't care. His mind is completely on that other woman. Why would he care about me?"

Vivian sighed. "Cousin, what are you going to do now?"

Grace looked down. "Find a job first. I can't rely on others forever."

Having a job would grant her independence and a change of perspective.

"I support you!" Vivian nodded firmly.

She had always felt her cousin deserved better.

Grace was once a top professional who quit her job at the peak of her career to prepare for pregnancy.

She lost the baby, her career, and now her husband's heart.

If she hadn't listened to her in-laws back then, would things be different now?

But life doesn't offer do-overs.

Choices must be lived with, even when the cost feels suffocating.
