Chapter 376

Vivian Bennett nearly collapsed onto the cold tiles of the restroom.

Her heart was pounding wildly.

She clamped a hand tightly over her mouth to stifle a scream.

Thankfully, she had locked the door earlier.

If her uncle had discovered her in Liam Sullivan's private lounge…

She didn't dare imagine the consequences.

Why was Albert Sullivan suddenly at the company?

Just recently, he had been lying critically ill in a hospital bed.

Had he recovered so quickly?

She tiptoed back to the bed and lay down again.

She pulled the covers over her head.

Her mind was filled with dread about her relationship with Liam being exposed.

Just as she was drifting into a drowsy state, the mattress beside her dipped.

Vivian jolted awake.

Liam was sitting on the edge of the bed, impeccably dressed in his suit.

She gasped in fright. "Why don't you make any sound when you walk?"

The man chuckled, his voice deep and rich. "Scared by my grandfather and uncle?"

He pulled her, blankets and all, into his arms.

Vivian let out a muffled groan.

She had been thoroughly frightened.

She looked up at him. "What were they doing here?"

Liam smoothed her hair. "Uncle's health is failing. Grandfather plans to have someone else take over the resort. He wants him to return to Seattle to recuperate."

Vivian's fingers twitched.

Albert Sullivan had always been marginalized within the Sullivan family.

Having finally gained some real authority, how could he possibly let it go so easily?

Was his condition truly that severe?

Liam scooped her up into his arms. "Go freshen up first. The food will get cold."

Vivian struggled out of his hold and padded into the bathroom, rubbing her eyes.

When she emerged, a set of exquisite meal containers were arranged on the coffee table.

A sudden thought made her face pale. "I haven't asked Manager Thomas for leave yet!"

Liam continued serving food without pausing. "I requested it for you this morning."

Vivian's eyes widened. "What did you tell him?"

"The truth." The man raised an eyebrow. "Told him you were with me. Taking the day off."

She felt like she might faint.

She had taken an excessive number of leaves recently.

It wasn't surprising Thomas Carter would call to verify.

But Liam's answer—

"Are you insane?" She pinched his arm in panic. "How could you say something like that directly!"

Liam caught her wrist, his gaze darkening. "Vivian, we are getting married."

A hint of disappointment was hidden in his voice.

"Why do you always want to keep us a secret?"

Vivian's heart ached.

She knew what was bothering him.

She leaned over and gently kissed the corner of his mouth. "Just give me a little more time… I need my family to accept this gradually."

After the meal, Ryan Johnson appeared punctually at the office door.

Vivian adjusted her scarf and hurried out of the Sullivan Group building with her head down.
