Chapter 206

Liam Sullivan’s warm palm suddenly covered Vivian Bennett’s hand.

He enveloped her slender fingers completely in his grasp.

Vivian’s cheeks instantly flushed pink.

Seeing her shy expression, Liam’s lips curved into a pleased smile.

He deliberately leaned close to her ear and whispered, “I’m afraid if I keep looking at others that way, a certain little jealous one will throw another tantrum.”

Vivian immediately retorted, “Who’s jealous?”

“Not jealous?” Liam narrowed his eyes. “Then why did you block my number? Why have you been ignoring me for days?”

The conversation circled back to its starting point.

Vivian pressed her lips together and stayed silent.

The evidence was right there. She had no defense.

Liam gently stroked her soft hair, as if soothing a bristling cat.

His voice was low. “I admit I acted impulsively.”

“I shouldn’t have said the agreement was terminated.”

“But seeing those rumors about you and someone else… it hurt me here.”

He pressed her hand against his chest.

Vivian could feel his strong, steady heartbeat.

“I’m sorry,” Liam said, gazing into her eyes. “Let me spend a lifetime making it up to you. Okay?”

His words were like a stone dropped into a still lake.

Ripples spread through Vivian’s heart.

A lifetime?

What lifetime could they possibly have together?

Her eyes filled with doubt.

Liam sighed softly and kissed her forehead.

“Don’t worry,” he said with certainty. “Leave everything to me.”

“You just need to trust me.”

His words left her flustered and unsettled.

Staying with him?

The mere thought made her heart race.

But…

The memory of that night, when Brandon White set her up and she slept with Zachary Hudson, suddenly surfaced.

She wasn’t good enough for him anymore.

How could Liam ever accept her like this?

A sour ache rose in her nose.

She shook her head frantically. “Liam, it’s impossible for us.”

“The whole company knows I’m just your employee.”

Liam frowned. “Nothing is impossible.”

“Or…” He moved closer. “Are you really content with just being an employee?”

Vivian was speechless.

With anyone else, she could have admitted it without hesitation.

But in front of Liam, she couldn’t lie to herself.

Some feelings had already quietly changed.

Liam didn’t push her.

He could see her struggling.

Vivian rubbed her temples wearily.

Too much had happened lately. She was reaching her limit.

Coupled with a sleepless night, all she wanted now was to rest.

She had just stood up when Liam grabbed her wrist.

“Where are you going?” His voice was slightly stern.

“My head hurts. I want to go back and rest.”

Liam pulled her firmly back into his arms.

This time, he wouldn’t let her run away.
