Chapter 308
Vivian Bennett's lips trembled.
She turned her head away, refusing to look at him.
Liam Sullivan watched her sulking expression, his heart softening.
He strode forward and swept her up into his arms.
Vivian was about to struggle when his deep voice murmured by her ear.
"Stop fussing. Even if you're angry, you need to eat first."
Her chest was full of grievances, yet his words shattered them effortlessly.
Even the hardest armor cannot withstand a gentle blade.
Liam carried her into the bathroom.
He gently set her down on the soft stool before the vanity.
He leaned against the wall, his gaze dark and locked on her.
Vivian's ears burned under his stare.
She couldn't help but glare at him. "Get out... I need to use the restroom!"
Liam let out a low chuckle.
He obligingly closed the door behind him.
He knew this kitten would scratch if pushed too far.
When Vivian finished freshening up, a new outfit was laid out neatly on the bed.
From the lingerie to the dress, everything was in her size.
No one had ever taken care of her with such meticulous attention.
A delicate sweetness bloomed in her heart, yet she recalled his lack of restraint the previous night.
She deliberately maintained a stern face as she descended the stairs.
She couldn't let him think she was easy to bully.
A perfectly good weekend, wasted entirely in bed.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became.
The setting sun streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a golden halo around Vivian.
The white dress made her resemble a newly bloomed gardenia.
Her long hair cascaded over her shoulders, so pure it stole one's breath away.
Liam's eyes darkened.
He would never let his assistant buy white again.
For the first time, he felt like ink-stained dust standing beside her.
This realization inexplicably irritated him.
"Come eat." His voice was slightly hoarse.
Vivian was faint with hunger.
The aroma from the table made her fingers weak.
She sat down with a stiff expression, accepting the bowl he handed her.
Liam ate with elegant grace.
Watching her devour her food, he couldn't suppress a soft laugh.
Vivian glared at him. "Try starving for a day yourself!"
"My mistake." He admitted outright.
Vivian nibbled on her fork. "What good is an apology?"
"What do you want then?" He lifted his gaze, his eyes like deep pools.
She was momentarily speechless, blurting out, "Starting tonight... we sleep in separate rooms!"
Liam's fingers stilled.
The edge of his bowl clinked sharply against the table.
