Chapter 325
Vivian Bennett pushed open the door to her cousin's house.
In the living room, Jason Harper was holding his phone and speaking in a low voice.
Seeing Vivian, he panicked and quickly ended the call.
"Vivian's here?" He forced a smile. "Your sister is in the bedroom."
Vivian glanced at him.
That call must have been to that woman again.
She didn't ask any questions and walked straight to her cousin's bedroom.
She knocked lightly on the door.
Grace Harper's weak voice came from inside. "Come in."
Vivian pushed the door open.
Grace was struggling to sit up in bed. Her face was frighteningly pale.
Vivian hurried forward to support her.
It had only been a few days, but her cousin had lost a noticeable amount of weight.
Her once bright eyes were now dull. Even her breathing seemed labored.
"Grace, where does it hurt?" Vivian asked anxiously.
Grace managed a weak smile. "It's nothing serious. I'm just a little tired."
Vivian frowned. "If you're not feeling well, you should see a doctor. Why are you pushing yourself?"
Grace shook her head. "It's an old problem. Doctors can't fix it."
Vivian understood.
Her cousin's illness was in her heart.
Jason's betrayal was like a thorn, deeply embedded within her.
No one could easily remove it.
"Even so, you should go to the hospital," Vivian insisted.
Grace held her hand. "Really, it's not necessary. A few days of rest will help."
Seeing her stubbornness, Vivian had to give up.
They chatted about recent events.
Grace's eyes suddenly welled up with tears. "Your brother-in-law... he asked for a divorce."
Vivian's heart tightened.
No wonder her cousin had become so ill.
She had always valued her family above all else.
Now Jason was determined to destroy it.
Vivian left her cousin's house with a heavy heart.
The night grew deeper, but she felt no desire to sleep.
Her mind was filled with the image of her cousin's haggard appearance.
Just then, her phone lit up.
She thought it was a message from Grace.
She opened it and froze.
Liam Sullivan's photo was displayed on the screen.
He was having dinner with an unfamiliar woman.
The woman was exquisitely dressed and elegant in her movements. She clearly came from a wealthy family.
