Chapter 328

The black sedan came to a smooth stop by the old residential building.

Liam Sullivan’s long fingers rested on the steering wheel, his profile sharp and cold.

His voice was low. "It's fine to care for your cousin, but you don't need to handle everything personally."

Vivian Bennett froze for a moment, her fingertips tightening unconsciously.

She replied softly, "My cousin is going through a divorce. Right now, I'm the only one who can be there for her."

Liam frowned slightly. "Divorce?"

Vivian lowered her gaze. "Yes. This illness is mostly a matter of the heart."

The atmosphere in the car turned heavy and silent.

Liam's eyes darkened, but he did not press the issue further.

Vivian pushed the car door open and stepped out, her figure looking frail.

She walked quickly into the building unit, her heart feeling heavy.

The door to her cousin's apartment was slightly ajar.

Vivian pushed it open and stopped in her tracks.

The living room was half empty. Pale outlines were all that remained where furniture once stood.

Grace Harper leaned against the bedroom doorframe, her face pale.

Her voice was hoarse. "He moved out."

Vivian's heart sank.

So all those urgent words from her cousin's husband yesterday were just to make a quicker escape.

She suddenly felt a tightness in her chest.

A man's cruelty always exceeded imagination.

"Cousin, are you okay?" Vivian asked gently.

Grace managed a bitter smile. "I saw it coming. I just didn't think it would be this soon."

Vivian sat with her for a long time until Sophia Miller called.

Her best friend's red sports car was parked conspicuously at the entrance of the complex.

Downtown, the commercial street was bustling with people.

Sophia linked arms with Vivian, her eyes scanning the storefronts.

She suddenly leaned closer, lowering her voice. "You've been with Liam Sullivan for a while now. Haven't you thought about giving him a special gift?"

Vivian looked blank. "Like what?"

Sophia grinned mischievously. "How about some lingerie?"

Vivian's ears turned bright red instantly. "What nonsense are you talking about!"

"This isn't nonsense," Sophia raised an eyebrow. "Men love this stuff. Especially a man of Liam's status. Don't you need to use some tactics?"

Vivian glared at her in embarrassment. "Sophia Miller!"

Sophia quickly raised her hands in surrender. "Just a joke. Why so serious?"

Vivian turned her face away, her earlobes still flushed.

Sophia nudged her shoulder, her tone turning serious. "Honestly, a man like Liam Sullivan has countless women eyeing him. You need to have some sense of crisis."

Neon lights fell on Vivian's eyelashes, casting faint shadows.

She stared at the dazzling storefronts for a long time without saying a word.
