Chapter 49

Vivian Bennett's gaze pierced the other woman like a sharp blade.

The woman squirmed under her intense stare.

She finally stopped her exaggerated performance.

Vivian looked directly at Zachary Hudson. "Mr. Hudson, if this is about me rejecting you during our blind date, I apologize. But I believe you're professional enough not to let personal matters affect business."

Zachary frowned.

She actually dared to mention being rejected to his face?

But he quickly smiled.

He studied her with amusement. "I didn't expect you to have such nerve."

He casually pushed the woman off his lap, letting her fall unceremoniously to the floor.

The woman scrambled up, hastily putting her clothes back on before leaving.

She shot Vivian a glare on her way out.

Vivian found it ridiculous.

She wasn't here to compete for this man's attention.

She was here strictly for business.

Now alone in the office with Zachary, Vivian got straight to the point. "What will it take for you to sign the contract, Mr. Hudson?"

Zachary lounged lazily on the sofa. "As I said, replace Lisa and I'll consider it."

Lisa was a popular young model lately.

Vivian suppressed her anger. "You must be joking, Mr. Hudson. How could I possibly compare to Miss Lisa?"

She deliberately downplayed herself, politely refusing to become his plaything.

"True." Zachary gave her a dismissive look. "Your figure isn't as good as Lisa's."

Vivian's mouth twitched.

Though this indicated he didn't actually want her as a mistress, the comparison still stung.

What was wrong with her figure?

She just didn't flaunt herself shamelessly like Lisa did.

"Your skills in bed probably can't compare either." Zachary added another cutting remark.

Vivian clenched her fists, forcing herself to maintain a smile.

"Mr. Hudson, can we discuss business matters?"

Zachary looked completely serious. "I am discussing business matters."

Vivian was speechless.

How was this business?

Zachary suddenly became solemn. "You're not qualified to be a mistress, but you'd make a suitable Mrs. Hudson."

Vivian froze.

Zachary smiled faintly. "I mentioned during our blind date that I want a wife who doesn't care about my extracurricular activities. You fit that requirement perfectly."

After all, she was the only woman who had ever rejected him.
