Chapter 642
She stared silently at his icy face.
She did not cry out in pain again.
"Vivian." Liam Sullivan spoke, struggling to contain his anger. "Was it you who had Luna Clark taken away?"
His voice was cold.
It was heavy with suppressed rage and indignation.
Vivian Bennett did not deny it in the slightest. "Yes."
She lifted her chin.
"I had Oliver Winston take her."
"So it was you." Liam grew even angrier. "You tampered with my phone this morning. That was premeditated too."
Vivian let out two cold laughs.
She looked at him with scorn.
Her beautiful eyes were filled with mockery.
"You thought by hiding her, by protecting her with all your might, I couldn't cause trouble for her?"
Her voice was light and airy.
"Thank you for leading her to me."
"After searching high and low without success, she fell right into my lap without any effort."
"It saved me the trouble of looking everywhere for her."
Liam's heart sank.
"So, you were using me?"
His voice was low.
"And today, the whole day, being so good to me, going out to have fun, not letting me come back—"
"Was that also because you were afraid I'd find out too soon, and your scheme wouldn't succeed?"
He stared into her eyes.
"Was all the affection, gentleness, and happiness you showed today just an act?"
His voice was laden with thick pain.
He had been so happy today.
Could that have been fake too?
Just when he was gradually starting to feel hopeful.
She dealt him a fatal blow.
Vivian lowered her eyes.
Her long lashes cast two shadows on her fair face.
Her expression was blank.
After a long while.
She smiled.
She raised her head and glared angrily at Liam.
"Yes."
Her voice was very soft.
"Do you think I could still be happy after learning this news?"
"You actually hid this woman from me."
"You tried to keep me from knowing."
"I was afraid you'd misunderstand," Liam retorted angrily. "If you could be a bit more rational, I wouldn't have had to hide it from you."
"Misunderstand what?"
Vivian's gaze was sharp.
"Are you trying to say your intention to protect her is false?"
"Liam, I never doubted you might have feelings for her."
"I wouldn't waste my energy on such pointless jealousy."
"But that doesn't mean I'll allow you to shield her and obstruct what I need to do."
Her fierce eyes were as wild as a she-wolf's.
No one would stop her from seeking revenge.
Those people had harmed her.
They had harmed her child.
Why should they get to live carefree lives after doing such terrible things?
She would not let a single one of them go.
It had always been this way.
Being too weak only invited bullying.
At the very least, she had to demand justice for her child.
"Vivian, what exactly are you trying to do?"
Liam tried to remain calm.
"Didn't I tell you? She's innocent too. She was just being used."
"Did you know someone tried to silence her? She was injected with a toxin, was unconscious for many days, and has only just been revived."
"She's merely a pawn."
"Our target should be the mastermind behind it all, not her."
He patiently explained to her.
Hoping she would see reason.
But clearly, Vivian's stubbornness had reached an extreme.
She snorted with a cold laugh.
"Who isn't innocent?"
"Even if she was used, even if she wasn't the mastermind, she was still involved in this."
"Therefore, I cannot forgive her."
"Vivian, do you truly intend to kill her?"
Liam calmed down.
He felt Vivian wouldn't act so rashly.
She must have another plan.
"You don't actually plan to kill her, do you?"
He looked at her.
"If you wanted her dead, now that she's in your hands, she probably wouldn't be alive right now."
"Whether I kill her or not is my business."
Vivian sneered.
"Since you don't love her, what does it matter if I kill her?"
"Or do you plan to avenge her?"
Liam lowered his voice.
Trying to soothe her.
"Vivian, don't be impulsive."
"You're not a naturally cruel person."
"I believe you wouldn't kill indiscriminately."
"Hand her over to me."
"I will definitely find the real mastermind for you. I will get your revenge."
Vivian's face remained cold.
"Even now, you still want to protect her?"
"The more you do this, the more I want to kill her."
"You'd better not plead for her."
"Otherwise, I'll make things worse for her."
Liam was instantly rendered speechless.
He just looked at her with disappointment.
The Vivian before him now had become unrecognizable to him.
So utterly changed.
The kindness, the good heart she once had.
Now they were all twisted.
This version of her.
He couldn't see through her.
And it made his heart grow cold.
